JSUMC OBGYN Pediatric & Adolescent Gyn Symposium - PAG 2027

AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (6.50 hours), Non-Physician Attendance (6.50 hours)

This symposium is provided by departments of OBGYN and Pediatrics to address the management of gynecologic issues for adolescents.

1. Identify the appropriate hormonal management strategies including best combined hormonal contraceptive for menstrual issues including Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder in adolescents based on individual clinical needs in shared decision making framework;
2. Describe the physiological link between obesity and menstrual disorders including Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Describe and identify key dietary recommendations and supplements that can be used as adjunct therapies for hormonal imbalances;
3. Screen adolescents effectively and counsel them on the latest pharmacological and behavioral HIV prevention methods including Pre Exposure Prophylaxis and Post Exposure Prophylaxis;
4. Recognize the unique clinical presentation of endometriosis in adolescents and implement evidence based management plans;
5. Discuss current protocols and multidisciplinary approaches for preserving hormonal and reproductive function in pediatric and adolescent cancer patients.

NJ Board of Nursing (NJAC 13:37-5.3) states: “A registered professional nurse or licensed practical nurse may obtain continuing education hours from the following: (d)3. Successful completion of continuing medical education courses recognized by the American Medical Association, the American Osteopathic Association or the American Podiatric Medical Association: one hour for each 60 minutes of attendance” therefore, CME credits obtained today may be used in place of nursing contact hours.
